2. Gearbox

Rotax Slipper clutch
Reduces vibration at low RPM and prevents expensive crankshaft and peripheral damage in the event of a propeller strike.

3. Intake

Rotax / K&N SP2704 conical air filters (2x)

The simplest intake setup uses one air filter mounted directly onto the intake of each carburetor.

More expensive and heavier, use only where SP2704 won’t fit.

Drip trays shield the carburetors from the heat produced by the exhaust pipes, especially important in tight, cowled installations. They also contain and direct to a safe exit any carburetor overflows.

Includes a selectable cold/hot air intake system for carburetor icing prevention.

4. Oil circuit

Perma-Cool Oil thermostat
With 1/2″ oil line fittings (not shown)
An oil thermostat ensures that the oil is never too cool: under 180F/82c, it re-circulates 90% of the oil through the engine. Over that temperature, it allows 95% of the oil into the cooler. Helps reduce engine wear. No need for unsightly duct tape over your oil cooler! Approved by Rotax (SL-912-011/914-009).

5. Liquid circuit

Replaces bent liquid outlet on liquid pump. Useful where hose routing is problematic due to interference with engine mount or other parts.

6. Exhaust

Rotax stainless steel exhaust kit
The kit includes the muffler and all necessary tubes, elbows and fittings to assemble an exhaust system which fits perfectly in your installation.

7. Fuel system

ACS Gascolator
Machined anodized aluminium and steel construction. With fine steel filter element, drain valve and provision for primer line connection.
A water strainer (gascolator) should be part of all aircraft fuel systems. It ensures that any water that could have been drawn into the system will not reach the engine.
Bosch fuel filter
Fine nylon mesh filter with transparent plastic casing.
This high quality filter is easy to inspect.

8. Engine mount

APT Engine mount hardware kit
Includes all machined steel parts, Lord rubber blocks, cupped washers and hardware to design and build your own engine mount. Just add your own tubing.
We design and manufacture engine mounts that allow you to suspend your engine in the optimal way, by securing it from the aft side with a ring. That is the same time-proven principle used in conventional aircraft. The shape of the ring also allows you to use the longer “heavy duty” starter, unlike some other engine mounts which interfere with its installation.
They are available in different levels of completion.
APT Engine mount partial build kit
Engine-side ring mount and firewall-side ring receptacle already assembled. Includes Lord rubber blocks, cupped washers and hardware. Also includes all  tubing and machined parts to design and build your own structure from ring to firewall.
APT “Bolt-on” engine mount
A complete engine mount, assembled, painted and ready to install. Available for most installations without nose wheel structure using 4 or 5 point mounting to flat firewalls.

Threaded inserts for propeller flange (set of 6)
Your choice of 5/16-20UN or M8x1.5.
These threaded inserts are installed through the propeller flange. They ensure a more secure propeller installation by preventing the propeller attachment bolts from bearing shear loads.

11. Engine controls

Aero Controls Throttle Cable
Precision threaded cable ends for precise adjustment with each carburetor. 72″ length from splitter to cockpit-side cable end fits most installations. Other lengths available on request.
On Rotax 4-stroke Aircraft Engines, the actuation of both carburetors needs to be perfectly synchronized. The best way to achieve this is to use our high quality Aero Controls cables. A single cable is used from your throttle control to the splitter, where is is then split into two cables, one for each carburetor. Stainless steel cables running inside maintenance-free nylon and wound steel housings ensure the smoothest and most precise operation.

12. Engine monitoring

It is essential to monitor the following engine parameters to ensure its proper operation:

  • Tachometer (RPM)
  • Hourmeter
  • Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) for at least one cylinder
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) for at least two cylinders
  • Oil Temperature
  • Oil pressure

There are different ways to accomplish this. The first is to use the classic analog (steam gauge type) instruments.
